Resolutions and promises
I would like to keep fit. I would like to be top in everything. I would like to be more helpful to people around me. I would like to treat my loved ones nicer. I would like to improve my attitude. I would like to be more sociable. I would like to have a meaningful life. I would like to cut down on my gaming. I would like to spend less.
Notice the "would like to". It is in the past and it is not absolute. That means all these past resolutions were only successful to certain extents.
Year 2007 marks another new year and that means I am older by one year too. I realise then that I have discarded so many resolutions in at least 10 years of my life because I cannot keep them.
I also realise I have not been keeping my promises to people all the time. I then realise I am not keeping my promises to myself, too. After all, what are resolutions? They can be promises to yourself, promises to be a better person.
This realisation makes me an unhappy person, but I recover almost instantly. No one is perfect. We deserve a second chance as long as we try our best. So here is to my 27th year's resolutions. I will like to be able to meet my resolutions.
Cheers.
